Joseph Stalin as Napoleon
After the Russian Revolution acting as leader was Joseph Stalin along with Leon Trotsky. Throughout the novel, Stalin was portrayed by a pig named Napoleon who played a role as one of the two leaders in Animal Farm with Snowball playing as Trotsky.
Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin had not completed his education, instead he was interested in the Soviet Union’s operative revolutionary groups. Thus, he was less educated in comparison to Trotsky. [2] Stalin becomes the leader of the USSR in 1924 due to the death of Lenin. Trotsky was against Stalin’s policies, furthermore criticizing the new regime. Thus, a counterattack by propaganda was commenced by Stalin against Trotsky. In 1928, Stalin then banishes Trotsky from the Soviet Union. [3] The NKVD, Stalin’s private police force 1]carried out many orders as they control the police, criminal investigation and fire departments as well as the prisons. The NKVD ensures Stalin’s power as he uses them to get rid of any opposing forces. [3] Stalin had made three 5 year plan to expand on their industrial development between 1928 - 1938.[2] Each factory had been given a specific target for production. [1] |
Napoleon
After the Battle of the Cowshed, it is seen that Snowball is a better public speaker than Napoleon. As mentioned in the novel, “At the meetings Snowball often won over the majority by his brilliant speeches.” (p.31)
As Snowball has been very successful after leading the victory of the Battle of Cowshed, schemer, Napoleon sets his dogs on Snowball and is dispelled from Animal Farm. Napoleon raises nine puppies himself as they are taken away from their parents, he has trained them so that they would set upon anyone who criticized his power. During the novel, Napoleon also decided to make a three year plan into building the windmill. This will expand on productivity and will benefit the Animal Farm. |
